Description
- Second Attack Helicopter available for the USA side at Rank 2, by spending 1 General Point.
- Can engage all types of ground targets including infantry and heavy armour.
- Most effective against tanks, also effective against infantry and buildings to a certain extent.
- Can be taken down by Fighters, SAMs and Anti-Air soldiers.
- Has a medium range, but low view sight.
Usage
- Although deadly against tanks, two AA missiles will change it to burning wreck.
- To fully use the abilities of AH-1F Cobra, scout for it to allow your Cobra attack from max range.
- Try to micro control AH-1, it is better to not allow it to engage targets with gun.
- Use in conjunction with AH-6 Little Bird when dealing with a lot of infantry.
Against Infantry
Can only deal with infantry with its chain gun, but it is not as effective as AH-6.
Against Vehicles
Can take out most early armored vehicles with one shot. If a single shot fails to destroy a vehicle, the Ah-1F will fire its cannon at the target, using missiles when they can be fired again.
Against Aircraft
Can't engage any type of Aircraft, except for Hovering/Landed helicopters. It should be noted that due to a bug the rockets from an AH-1F will continue to follow the target even if it has lifted off, and may kill it in mid-air.
Against Buildings
Can only use it's M197 chain gun against structures, takes a lot of time to really destroy structures, and takes a really long time to destroy hardened structures like Command Centers
How to defend against
- AH-1F Cobra is devastating against most ground targets, so it's always better to engage it with your fighters.
- AA Sites works well against Cobras.
- AAA vehicles have less range than AH1, but they can wait in ambush due to camo netting ability. SA9 has the same range as Cobra, so use it carefully when without camo upgrade.
- Long-range Anti-Air vehicles like the SA-11 Gadfly can deal with it easily, unless the AA vehicle is caught by surprise.
- The Anti-Air Soldier can take it out with two missiles, so garrison towns and village to protect yourself from its attacks.
- If you have no AA units nearby, but only some [advanced as T80BV/UK] tanks, try to drive with them under it - there is a chance to get the heli down with AA MG of tanks.
- The T-80UK can deflect the TOW missiles the AH-1F fires, so be sure to use that if an AH-1 if firing at a vehicle.
