Description

  • First aircraft available for the USA side at Rank 2.
  • Armed with 6 short-range anti-air missiles that can be used against all air targets.
  • Also armed with cluster bombs that can be dropped using the Special Ability button.
  • Can be taken down by Fighters, SAMs, but not Anti-Air soldiers.
  • Survivability rates slightly higher than Russian fighters as it has superior countermeasures, but still very vulnerable to their attacks.

Usage

  • Use in pairs to destroy the enemy clustered units.
  • Use with EF111 to improve survivability.
  • Although clusterbombs do reload in mid-air, they are inaccurate when dropped on-flight.
  • Never deploy in an area where your troops are present as the bombs will not really differ between your units and the enemies, and the area of the effect is rather large increasing the possibility of friendly fire.

Against Infantry

Cluster bombs are effective against infantry. It take long time to reload so it's recommend to use them against clustered infantry, not single units unless necessary.

Against Tanks

Cluster bombs can damage tanks slightly, light vehicles usually get destroyed in the first volley or the second of cluster bombs, tanks take a lot more than that, so leave the job for other aircraft.

Against Buildings

Cluster bombs deal low damage to structures, so that's a job better left for F-111s

How to defend against

  • The F-16 is almost immune to all form of attacks when used properly, but most of the time any long-range SAM will make short work of it.
  • AA soldiers are useless against F16s, mobile Light AA(M163/Shilka/Sa-9) can be quite effective against it. SA9s and heavy AA vehicles also work well.
  • The F-16 is a hit and run attack jet, so be sure to fire at it as soon as possible, using radar is advised here as it can allow your AA units to fire at full-range.
  • A guarding F-16 is a sitting duck, it can't do anything to you if you fire your long to medium range missiles at it, MiG-29s are generally good at this maneuver.
  • As opposing to the MiG-29s, the F-16 only fires a single missile per salvo. Use this to your advantage when engaging it with the MiG-29s.
