A Anti-Air vehicle capable of engaging all types of aircraft efficiency.
Description
- Available from the Tank Supplystation at Rank 3 if the general upgrade is selected.
- Uses Infrared-homing missiles unlike the M163 Vulcan.
- Can shoot down all types of aircraft with two missiles.
- Cannot engage any type of ground targets.
- Has a medium range but a low view sight.
- They need to deploy before firing, which takes a short amount of time.
- Can upgrade to be camouflaged while stationary.
Usage
- You should always bring one along in your assaults to defend yourself against airborne threats.
- It can take down helicopters easily if you spot them early.
- They are helpless against tanks, so don't put them against them or infantry.
- Can shoot down jets after two missiles, so bring two if you plan on destroying jets as soon as possible.
- Since they need to deploy, it's usually a good idea to order them to do so to make use of them before it is too late.
- Although it does it's job arguably well, it's better to rely on Air Superiority for USA.
Against Aircraft
Can shoot all helicopters down with one missile. Jets are a different story as they can dodge the missiles or deviate them sometimes, but most of them get shot down with two missiles.
How to defend against
- Anti-Tank missiles can take it out with two or three hits.
- Anti-Tank Soldier is good for the job, as it can't engage infantry.
- Tanks are ideal for destroying M48.
- Helicopters armed with long range missiles can take them, but it is dangerous to use them without cleared sight.
- The F-4G Wild Weasel can't destroy it because M48 doesn't have its own radar.
- The EF-111 Raven can deviate M48's missile, although it can't actually jam the vehicle.
- Base defenses and garrisoned structures are a good defense against M48s.
