Description
- Second Helicopter available for the USSR side at Rank 2.
- Can engage all types of ground targets including infantry and heavy armour.
- Can be taken down by Figheters, SAMs and Anti-Air soldiers.
- Can transport up to 8 infantry units.
Usage
- The Mi-8 Hip can only drop the units inside it by landing, so make sure the landing zone is clear of enemy units.
- It can take more punch than your average helicopter, but it can still be easily shut down killing all infantry inside it.
- Its rockets are useful, but not as useful against heavy armour, so select your targets wisely.
- Use it to transport your units to the frontline.
- You can also use it to cross over obstacles like water and mountains.
- Carry an engineer, an officer and a medic inside it to provide all kinds of support to your ground forces.
Against Infantry
Can wreak havok on infantry units, especially if clustered together. A direct rocket hit will most likely kill an infantry unit.
Against Tanks
It can destroy tanks with its rockets, but it is notable that tanks are hard targets when they are moving, and not as easy to kill as infantry, but they can still be destroyed by its rockets.
Against Buildings
Rockets are surprisingly effective against structures, as they require four or more rocket salvos to destroy most structures.
How to defend against
- Unlike the Mi-26 Halo, the Mi-8 Hip can engage ground targets, so it's always better to engage it with your fighters.
- Long-range Anti-Air vehicles like the M48 Chaparral and the SA-11 Gadfly can deal with it easily.
- The Anti-Air Soldier can take it out with two missiles, so garrison towns and village to protect yourself from its attacks.
- Build Anti Air base defences to prevent it from destroying your base.
